Working from home post-pandemic
I recently ran a poll on Twitter to see if people would want to continue working from home more often than in the past in the post-pandemic times. Here are the results of this poll, as well as a follow-up take from my side:
When this pandemic is “over” will you continue to work more from home than before?

How do you think universities will change their views on productivity and working from home?

In terms of tech and tools, I think hybrid conferences and blended teaching will stay with us.
I hope there will be a push for more research funding and better working conditions for academics. https://t.co/BTjkEjuxaO— Dr Eva Lantsoght (@evalantsoght) April 14, 2021
I fear the economic crisis will make academic work only more precarious, resulting in an even larger push for publications, higher workloads, and more competition for less grants.

Personally, I’m not sure yet. I miss my office space, and more than anything, I miss having a physical boundary between work and home. However, I’m not sure when I’ll be able to return to my office space. And for some part, working from home has been fine in itself, although at this point in the pandemic, with another lockdown (as in, nobody is allowed on the streets between Friday 8pm and Monday 5am, not even walking or cycling), everything feels just bleh at the moment.
